This is the liquid version of chutney, the kind that’s thinner than usual, almost like a flavoured coconut sauce. Made from fresh grated coconut, green chilies, ginger, and a touch of shallots, blended smooth with just enough water, and tempered with mustard seeds, curry leaves, and sometimes dried red chilies in coconut oil – it’s simple, but it holds so much flavor.
In our home, this chutney is made almost every other morning – not because we plan for it, but because it just has to be there when dosa or idli is on the menu. First step of Chutney making is , Grind together Coconut, ginger, shallot,Chilly powder to a paste with required amount of water

in a Pan heat oil, crackle mustard seeds, with curry leaves, Dry red chillies

Now add coconut paste with and add water.

Add salt and mix well

Remove from stove before boiling

Note: if you don't have chilly powder or don't like it, You can add green chillies

Serve with Dosa, Idli or Appam
