Cherupayar Curry (Green Mung Bean Curry) is a delicious and easy-to-make Kerala-style curry. It goes best with Puttu, but also pairs well with rice.

First, cook green mung beans (cherupayar) with enough water and salt until soft but not mushy.

Next, grind together Grated coconut,Turmeric powder, Chilly powder, A pinch of vegetable masala, Water into a thick paste:

In a pan, add the cooked green mung beans and the ground coconut masala paste.

Add some more water to adjust the consistency. If needed, add a little more salt.

Cook the mixture on medium flame until it starts to boil. Turn off the flame two minutes after boiling starts.

Now prepare the tempering: Heat a little oil in a small pan.

Add mustard seeds. When they start to splutter, add dry red chillies and curry leaves.

Saute for a minute until aromatic.

Pour the tempering over the curry and mix well.

Serve warm with Puttu or steamed rice.
